From Exploring to Exploiting - Understanding the Range of Children's Sexual Behaviors

Tuesday, November 14, 2023 | 9am - 11am

To help us plan, please choose In-Person or Virtual when you register. The In-Person will be held in the MDT Room at Kids FIRST. Light refreshments will be provided. 

Participants will be able to: 

  • Understand normal/healthy child sexual behaviors. 

  • Recognize concerning and problematic child sexual behaviors and sexually exploiting/offending behaviors. 

  • Understand sexual development in children as part of all aspects of child development. 

  • Learn what might contribute to sexual behaviors beyond what is considered natural and healthy including understanding the influence of society and culture, technology, and family influences on child sexual development. 

  • Make decisions on how to respond without over or under-reacting; knowing when clinical intervention is warranted.

New MDT Member Orientation

Wednesday, November 15, 2023 | 8:30am - 12:30pm

An in-person or virtual training for Lane County MDT members to gain a detailed understanding of Kids FIRST's services, as well as each member's role as a part of our statutorily required Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Intervention Team.

This training meets the basic requirements of ORS 418.747

  • Kids FIRST and the services we provide

  • How and when to make a referral for a forensic interview and/or medical exam

  • Understand the forensic interviewing process and its role in investigations

  • How and when to submit a Karly's Law case referral
