April 2026
Child Abuse Prevention Month

Talking about child abuse is a tough conversation, and potentially one of the most important in a child's life.

It's why Kids FIRST uses Child Abuse Prevention Month each April to raise awareness about such an important issue. Last fiscal year, Kids FIRST served 800 children with intervention services after they've experienced abuse and neglect. Our goal is that by continuing to talk about how to prevent child abuse and help provide support to children who have navigated one of the most traumatic moments of their lives, that more kids can feel safe, cared for, and happy.

Child Abuse Prevention Tips

Prevention Tip #1

Go online with your child, model safe internet use, and talk to your child about safe and respectful online behavior. Encourage them to listen to how an interaction makes them feel, and that it's ok to delete or block accounts.
